In Baghdad, Iraq, a suicide bomber wearing a vest jammed full of explosives attacked a police recruitment center and killed at least 65 people and wounded 160 others.This attack was staged at a checkpoint where hundreds of people wait for their turn to enter the center. The Tikrit's general hospital was packed full of people who needed immediate medical attention. This was called by Vice President Tariq Al-Hashimi a "cowardly act" and Iraqi Prime Nuri al-Maliki wants to get to the bottom of the incident, which he calls the latest of similar "heinous crimes." -CNN.com
In other news, Roger Federer was untroubled in his first match at the Australian Open. The results against Slovakian Lukas Lacko were 6-1 6-1 6-3 on the Rod Laver Arena. Federer said to the official Autralian Open website: "I thought I played great. I'm obviously very happy". Poor Lacko, playing against the world's number one in the first round.
